USA Today has their poll, but we have ours. Take a look at some of the most enjoyable ads we saw during Superbowl XLIV (that’s 44 if you’re not from ancient Rome).
AUDI definitely produced a winner with this A3 TDI Clean Diesel spot. A perfect mixture of social relevance delivered through a comedic device. More commercials after the jump…

Fresh jokes from Derrick Comedy at Collegehumor.com! Guys are trying to curb serve me their hip-hop record on the streets of NYC almost every day, but I had no idea how macabre this mundane scenario could turn out to be. Mad funny.

Radiotjänst i Kiruna AB (literally, “Radio Service in Kiruna”) is Sweden’s TV licensing body. It is a private corporation, formed in 1988 and based in Kiruna. The company is a subsidiary of the three Swedish public service broadcasters: Sveriges Television, Sveriges Radio and Sveriges Utbildningsradio. Under Swedish law everyone who owns a television set is required to pay the license fee, currently 2032 kronor (€ 210) per year (2008). The fee is collected by Radiotjänst but administered by Swedish government office Swedish National Debt Office (“Riksgäldskontoret”) by means of a special account, the so-called “rundradiokontot”. — via Wikipedia
All of the above company speak withstanding, these folks have put together a helluva compelling and enjoyable campaign to thank their population for doing what they have no choice to do: PAY FEES.

Treehugger has a roundup of 7 motifs in Lost that have environmental lessons to be learned. I just finished the 4th season of the show in my desperate attempt to get caught up by the series finale, so I’m a little hesitant to read all of this, since it might spoil some 5th season revelation that I haven’t gotten to yet, but it looks pretty juicy! Check it out HERE.

Winter break is over and the new semester is in full effect which can only mean it’s time for another season of The Double Down Film Show! Season 3 kicks off with the return of our very first guest, indie filmmaker, Jameel Saleem. On that debut show, Jameel was trying to raise $$$ for his first feature film, “The Good, The Bad, and The Movie.”
Since that January 2009 interview, the financing fizzled out and Jameel left L.A. to move back home to Baltimore, almost giving up on filmmaking — ALMOST. A year later he triumphantly managed to get a feature film financed and to the finish line, but it wasn’t “The Good, The Bad, and The Movie” …
… it was his new project “CREAM SODA”!
There is no magic formula for financing or finishing and every indie filmmaker’s journey to final cut is unique. Jameel will walk us through his journey from project fizzle to indie film sizzle.
> What common problems plagued his first feature effort?
> How did he land the money and make a new film in less than a year?
> What did he do different the second time around?
> Why didn’t he just quit like so many others? The answer to all these questions, plus more filmmaking inspiration and education on the next Double Down Film Show. Real problems.
Real answers. By filmmakers. For filmmakers.

This is a fun little collection of behind the scenes photos from one of the silent era’s most masterful filmmakers, Fritz Lang. It’s amazing to see the level of attention to detail in old films. Makes me nostalgic for the days when every single backdrop on film and television wasn’t computer generated. Check it out HERE.

Sometimes you’re the guy that has super-intense flashbacks all day long. Other times, you’re just some nobody trying to start a fire in the background.
