Fast Company is the most inspiring magazine that I read. Just renewed my subscription matter of fact, and coupled it with Inc. Magazine (the second most inspiring magazine I read). Each year they run a special issue where the staff determines the 50 Most Innovative Companies in the world and every year they are ahead of the curve while providing analysis on last year’s movements.

Like you didn’t see this coming. This afternoon, industry analysts are saying that Avatar will move into the top spot for film with the highest box office gross EVER. As in top of the heap. More than anything ever put on film and distributed to audiences. This is doooope! Not just for the film, but moreso for it’s star, Zoe Saldana. Still cool with all of this success and talent that has yet to even scratch the surface. Trust me. The pic above is from her birthday party a few years back in NYC. And the brother to the left is the dude behind “We Resist Simple” where I’m blogging now. There’s a lot of hustlers on the rise out here! Glad to know y’all
Check her out in Premium below (if you haven’t already) and let us know what you think of the film!

Nevertheless, I thought I’d recommend 2 great magazines for any hustler/entrepreneur in any line of work. INC MAGAZINE and FAST COMPANY MAGAZINE. Every month on paper, and everyday online, these 2 resources provide those detailed gems of how other folks are getting over hurdles and thinking their way out of the box to critical, business, and financial success. It’s career vitamins.

Filmmakers are always trying to find the next way to fund their projects. Mark Gill (former President of Warner Independent Pictures) and Neil Sacker (former legal affairs executive at Miramax and Warner) have an interesting idea.
A new movie company has generated Hollywood credibility with movies starring Jamie Foxx and Catherine Zeta-Jones, but Wall Street may prove to be a tougher audience. Film Department Holdings Inc. wants to raise as much as $100 million via an initial public offering of stock that could take place early next month. There are two potential bloopers lurking in its prospectus: Its independent auditor has raised substantial doubts about its ability to stay in business, and it has been unable to line up a marquee-name investment bank to underwrite the deal. “This is way out on the bell curve in terms of what investors want,” said David Menlow, president of analysis firm IPOfinancial.com. “It’s like a salmon swimming against a tsunami.”

I just saw PRECIOUS this weekend and while I was not the biggest fan of Shadowboxer, Mr. Daniels achieved a helluva film with this project. Standout performances from all. Believe the hype.
