Anthony Artis snagged this pic from last night’s meeting when I wasn’t looking. Gotta capture the images that go with the grind. We’ve got a whole new business model coming your way. Tick, tock, tick, t…

THE BRIDGE Proposal: Video Extras!

“Velvet Rope” – Behind the Scenes from Double 7 on Vimeo.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF “THE BRIDGE”. THIS VIDEO WAS SHOT DURING THE MAKING OF THE PILOT WEBISODE.

If you are reading this, then you’ve received all of the materials related to THE BRIDGE, a 1 Hour Cable Television Series + Interactive Media Platform. One of the most exciting aspects of this concept is the marriage between traditional viewing habits (cable TV) and emerging platforms (the web). We’ve found a unique way to marry the two while allowing the content to stand alone on each channel. It’s about delivering an unprecedented amount of depth into the world of this series, its characters, and connecting to as many demographics as possible in an organic, entertaining way.

WATCH THE PILOT WEBISODE BELOW. THESE 3 LADIES WORK THEIR WAY INTO THE FIRST EPISODE OF THE CABLE SERIES IN A VERY INTERESTING WAY. READ THE PILOT TELEPLAY YOU’VE RECEIVED TO FIND OUT!

In The Laboratory

Stacked behind me are screenplays, books related to characters backstories, business books, and business plans. Double 7 is growing, not only as a team, but in PERSPECTIVE. This is merely a heads up, since the blog hasn’t been as active as we normally are. We hope that you’ll start returning to your daily dosage of D7, and our collective will do our job to keep the vitamins coming. Scroll down below to see what the latest is, and spread the word.

It’s really great to see what went on when you were going crazy working to make the day. Shout out to the entire team!, Iva + Mike for the outstanding location!, and Giga Shane for filming and editing this great piece of documentary filmmaking! He also wrote a great writeup:

Director Pete Chatmon has done it before, and it looks like he may do it again. This time, accompanied by a crack crew and an idea so surefire that it sets off sprinklers when a dossier bearing it enters a sprinkler-enabled room, Chatmon endeavors to direct, all while directing the evenings endeavors. Some may claim that cable television has seen all of its good ideas, but those in the know will tell you that Chatmon and Co. have just had their hands in the good idea jar.

Spread the word and stay tuned for the finished webisode. We’re making it happen in post RIGHT NOW!

Hanging w/General Colin Powell (PHOTO)

This was a quick pic taken after a great interview with General Colin Powell for the 761st documentary that I directed. Buy it HERE for those of you that haven’t yet.

Benjamin Ahr Harrison and I teamed up on the co-directing/producing tip for this campaign you will soon hear more about. In the meantime, check out my arm and the slate above. Pretty cool stuff. We had great talent on camera in Brandhyze Stanley and then our team of folks including Leyla Rosario (DP), Chris Dadap (Assistant Camera), and Wayne McElroy (grip/gaffer). We’ll hit y’all with the 4 video campaign when it’s all said and done. And to think we shot this right after #indiefilmbootcamp!

Day 2 of 2: Girls Night Out

Shout out to the cast and crew for another great day of shooting. We got it in! Special thanks to Iva and Mike on the location. It was a northeast monsoon and they were gracious enough to let us do our little webisode business in their beautiful space. Peep cinematographer Leyla Rosario’s BLOG for more images!

Last night we shot the exterior scenes for “Girls Night Out” (captured on Canon’s 7D). It was cold and chaotic (Broadway in NYC on a Saturday night!) but we held it together and shot 6/8 pages in about an hour — 8 shots in total. Below is a shout out to the talented cast and crew who did a great job despite the conditions and me scrapping my shot list thanks to Murphy’s Law. I’m thankful for their time and expertise and looking forward to this weekend when head to Jersey City to capture the interior scenes that set the story up.

  • * THE DOUBLE DOWN FILM SHOW — WEDNESDAY, March 3rd @ 9pm EST *

Listen in LIVE from your computer HERE OR from your phone @ 646-929-1956!

On the next Double Down Film Show we’ll have an open conversation with writer/director, Bridget Bedard.

Just five years removed from film school, Bridget now crafts scripts for two of the hottest new shows on the air, the runaway hit, Madmen, and the new series, Men of a Certain Age. Along with her writing colleagues, she recently won a WGA Award for Best New Series and was nominated for an award for Best Dramatic Series for her work on the first season of Madmen.

Bridget is a rare breed: a working female on a hit show in the heavily male-dominated writing segment of the business who didn’t have to work her way up from the bottom rung.

    · How did she skip the normal path to the writer’s table?

    · How does tv writing differ from feature writing?

    · What do managers do for you that agents don’t?

    · What did she learn in the “real world” that she didn’t in film school?

    · What are the pros and cons of writing in N.Y. vs. L.A.?

Find out the answer to all these questions, plus a whole lot more practical wisdom and advice for aspiring filmmakers as we probe for the formula to a successful television writing career on the next Double Down Film Show.

By filmmakers. For filmmakers. No fluff, puff, or silly stuff…just the real answers you need to succeed every Wednesday night at 9pm. Listen and learn!
