I’m definitely interested in giving this a try. Not sure if my window has few enough bars on it, but what a rad way to make your grocery bill that much lighter!

Treehugger has a roundup of 7 motifs in Lost that have environmental lessons to be learned. I just finished the 4th season of the show in my desperate attempt to get caught up by the series finale, so I’m a little hesitant to read all of this, since it might spoil some 5th season revelation that I haven’t gotten to yet, but it looks pretty juicy! Check it out HERE.

I really like some of the ideas that Bruce Sterling discusses in this talk. The first half is sort of a loose forecasting of what our lives might be like in the next decade. The second half has some specific, practical advice on some smart moves you can make in overhauling your life in a ‘bright green’ kind of way. I’m thinking about making some lists…

There’s a fantastic article in this week’s New Yorker Magazine that you should read.
“I love Barack Obama,” he said. “I’d pay money just to shine the brother’s shoes. But I’ll tell you this. Do you hear me? One man is not going to save us. I don’t care who that man is. He’s not going to save us. And, in fact, if you want to be real about this—can y’all take it? I’m going to be real with y’all. Not only is Barack Obama not going to be able to save you—you are going to have to save Barack Obama.”
If that doesn’t get your attention, I don’t know what will. The subject of the piece is a non profit called Green for All that is advocating for poor inner city people to get on board with the green movement, especially the entrepreneurial side of it. The article opens with the organization’s founder, Van Jones, imploring a roomful of high school dropouts to start thinking about these things. Telling them about wind power technology he says, “Somebody’s going to make a billion dollars deploying that technology. I think it should be you.”
Word.
Check out the article here and check out Green for All’s website!

The Featured Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art night now is called Home Delivery. In the back of this picture is “The Cellophane House”. All of these homes are prefabricated — constructed at another site and delivered to you where the pieces are simply put together. Yes, this is how double wides are put together, but trust us when we tell you this is the future AND very good for the environment.
More pictures after the jump, including other pre-fabs, sculptures, and more
