Anthony Artis snagged this pic from last night’s meeting when I wasn’t looking. Gotta capture the images that go with the grind. We’ve got a whole new business model coming your way. Tick, tock, tick, t…

This comes from the good folks over at TED. About this talk:
Sheena Iyengar studies how we make choices — and how we feel about the choices we make. At TEDGlobal, she talks about both trivial choices (Coke v. Pepsi) and profound ones, and shares her groundbreaking research that has uncovered some surprising attitudes about our decisions.

Kuleshov demonstrated the necessity of considering montage as the basic tool of cinema art. In Kuleshov’s view, the cinema consists of fragments and the assembly of those fragments, the assembly of elements which in reality are distinct. It is therefore not the content of the images in a film which is important, but their combination. The raw materials of such an artwork need not be original, but are pre-fabricated elements which can be disassembled and re-assembled by the artist into new juxtapositions.
The montage experiments carried out by Kuleshov in the late 1910s and early 1920s formed the theoretical basis of Soviet montage cinema, culminating in the famous films of the late 1920s by directors such as Sergei Eisenstein, Vsevolod Pudovkin and Dziga Vertov, among others. These films included The Battleship Potemkin, October, Mother, The End of St. Petersburg, and The Man with a Movie Camera.
More on the Kuleshov Effect after the jump!

C3Stories was conceived as many embers of inspiration are, during the witching hours of the night as Natasha M. Hall and Greg Payton were completing another piece of creative alchemy. It was then both realized that more needed to be said and done, not just for themselves, but for others like them, who were creative, but didn’t know how to take those first steps toward realizing their creative ambitions.
The two chose to align their backgrounds in professional education with their technical and creative know how as it applies to the world of advertising, 360 degree campaigns and hands on creative execution. Natasha and Greg created C3 to showcase their creative capabilities, what the many elements it took to create these works, share what other artists are doing in all creative industries and reflect the reality that inspiration is perpetual as long as it’s propagated.
C3Stories is based on Greg and Natasha’s dedication to the respective crafts of Directing, Writing, Editing, Creative Development, Producing and Education in the Arts.
Working in collaboration with the scores of creative allies they’ve amassed over the years, no concept is inconceivable. With courage and conviction behind the concept, C3Stories will make it reality.
It’s an honor and pleasure to be a part of the Double 7 Squad. Here’s to a new reality!

I’ve been on some digging in the photo crates lately and stumbled upon this gem here. On every production I try and snag at least 1 Polaroid with my talent. This was right after we wrapped Frankie Faison on PREMIUM. A great actor, very underrated, and also hails from my Mom’s hometown in VA. When we shot the final scene of Frankie and Dorian, when he calls the character “Cool” his son, there were a lotta grown ass men on the set acting like the moment wasn’t welling up in their eyes. Peep the resume!

“Do you like good music? Yeah, man!” That’s a Sam Cooke lyric and a very real question from yours truly. Check out Dorian Missick, aka Tailwind Turner’s mixtapes HERE. Good tunes to get the party jumping, even if you’re by yourself.

Even though Canon wouldn’t bless me with a freebie, I love this camera. I’ve been taking a bunch of shots lately and figure I might as well share ‘em with ya every now and then. This was on the Santa Monica boardwalk, taken by my sister, to my settings of course. She’s just learning the manual thing. I like the blown out background, but that may just be a matter of taste. Stay tuned for periodic shots…
