Got a little backed up today, plotting film industry takeover with Anthony Artis and Benjamin Ahr Harrison. Plus a little dose of marketing magic with our Resident Creative Director, Candice Sanchez McFarlane.

Anyway, Slumdog Millionaire isn’t anything new per se, but I’m really hoping the schedule will free up soon so I can see this. It looks tight.

Some friends of ours are looking for a young Director with some comedy experience (someone who can work with actors) and who has his or her own creative little team (editor, cinematographer, etc). We are saddened to inform you of the death of Rufus D. Taylor, one of the many soldiers interviewed in our documentary on the 761st Tank Battalion. Mr. Taylor would have been 97 years old next year.

We should all take a moment to remember and be thankful for the service of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers that fought in WWII.

Enough Already. Yeah, I said it. I was cool with the thrice daily Obama campaign emails — y’all know I’m for change. I’m also as excited as the next person about the monumental election of President-Elect Barack Obama…

…But this has got to STOP!

These non-stop ads (everyday, all day) lead me to pose just 1 question:

- WHO IS PAYING FOR THESE ADS?

- WHO IS GETTING AMERICA’S $9.95 FOR THE BARACK OBAMA INAUGURAL DOLLAR LAYERED IN GENUINE 24K GOLD + THE PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA KENNEDY HALF DOLLAR (also layered in the good stuff — I’ve memorized it)

And yes, I realize that’s 2 questions…it just felt like the right thing to do since the ad just came on again while I was typing this!

IF you are at work, turn your volume down a ‘lil something as profanity and misogyny abound. It’s a new edition of How-To Tuesdays and with the “newly announced” recession, I figured we’d pay tribute to 2 of hip-hops largest hustlers who found a way to get paid against larger obstacles than most of you reading this post (yours truly included).

From being born in jail to a single mother … to … being born to a single mother in Brooklyn, these cats found their way to the PINNACLE OF CULTURE, INFLUENCE, and yes…DEAD PRESIDENTS. It’s a shame they died in the process. Watch the video above for a high freestyle and think about how you’re about to get paid in 2009.

Ubuntu Education Fund EPK from Double 7 Film on Vimeo.

December 1st is World AIDS Day and I ask all of you to take a moment to consider the realities of this epidemic.

For 2 weeks in June and July of 2008, I was in Port Elizabeth, South Africa directing the electronic press kit for Ubuntu Education Fund. They do OUTSTANDING work in the Ibhayi Townships which suffer from 80% unemployment and a 40% HIV infection rate.

I hope you will visit their site HERE to learn how you can donate to the cause. Like I said, they are doing BEAUTIFUL work and anything that you can contribute is monumental.
