From the Devil’s Devil’s Advocate
“Notorious…It’s Unbelievable”
A few days before the premiere, one man from Las Vegas called the Double Down Community show and loosely stated that “Notorious was a cookie cutter, Hollywood version of 8 Mile.”
He followed that by asking the guest actor, “So now that you’re in Hollywood do you prefer white or black women?”
On January 16th, 2008, tears flowed yet again. Laughter came often. What can I say? I’m sentimental. Plus, the deaths of two of our greatest in Biggie and Pac still bother me. The peaks and valleys were planted very artistically in Notorious. This is not a hip hop movie people. It is a dramatic piece of work that tightly grasps the hip hop culture in that time capsule. There’s a difference. If you are afraid that you’re paying to see a 2 hour music video, you’re mistaken.

Jamal Woolard, Derek Luke, and Anthony Mackie interviewed by LeLani Clark. Great behind the scenes exclusive content to go with that Mackie interview from the Double Down Film Show.
Enjoy.

This is some rare footage of Pac and Big before one of their shows back in ‘93.
Some sh*t is just TIMELESS. I wonder where they’d be if they had lived to see 2009.

IF you are at work, turn your volume down a ‘lil something as profanity and misogyny abound. It’s a new edition of How-To Tuesdays and with the “newly announced” recession, I figured we’d pay tribute to 2 of hip-hops largest hustlers who found a way to get paid against larger obstacles than most of you reading this post (yours truly included).
From being born in jail to a single mother … to … being born to a single mother in Brooklyn, these cats found their way to the PINNACLE OF CULTURE, INFLUENCE, and yes…DEAD PRESIDENTS. It’s a shame they died in the process. Watch the video above for a high freestyle and think about how you’re about to get paid in 2009.
The recession doesn’t have to apply to YOU!

Just saw this on our people’s Pardonmeduke site. We ‘re not quite sure what to think of this movie yet, but we’re hopeful, especially with George Tillman, Jr. directing. Biopics tend to resonate more when a larger amount of time has passed. Biggie’s been gone for 12 years…imagine they would have made X in 1977?
